Application of biogas recirculation in anaerobic granular sludge system for multifunctional sewage sludge management with high efficacy energy recovery

• Biogas recirculation may create multifunctional granule AD system of sewage sludge. accelerates CH 4 recovery rate from sludge by 31–44%. Simultaneous stabilization and aggregation can be realized in this system. This improve net energy profit 78–85% for treatment. study investigated the possibility biogas recirculation-driven anaerobic granular treatment, aiming to develop an sufficient digestion (AD) with upgrading, self-aggregation. Results show that could enhance production 31–44% shorten lag-phase duration 0.08–0.2 day simultaneous increment content (> 83% study). The reason is mainly associated stronger interspecies electron transfer under condition. In addition, 37–40% better dewaterability digested was achieved, implying occurrence self-aggregation microbial cells induced recirculation. Energy balance analysis reflects treatment 78–85%. Moreover, almost no obvious influence noticed on seed granules’ composition properties. These findings suggest a promising alternative which quality simultaneously towards addition other chemicals.
